Merry Christmas 2011

Happy Christmas! Thank you so much for reading my blog this year, for leaving so many nice comments and also for purchasing little things from my online shops. It made me very happy to share my work with you. I hope you have wonderfully relaxing holidays with plenty of hot drinks and coziness. See you in 2012!

JUNIPER GIRLS is a personal project I have been working on for the past year.
Whenever possible, in between commissions and other projects I made some time to work on these ink drawings. I started drawing without a plan and girls appeared on paper and started telling me their stories.
Drawing in that way is one of my favourite things to do. It's a little like meditation but a lot more entertaining. I took my time with this project to have a whole pile of drawings to pick from for the final booklet. And it's called Juniper Girls, because while working on it I kept thinking about Juniper. These are some pictures of the final booklet and some progress photos. Anyway, I hope you like it. It's available here and here.

Danville Children's Medical Center

Last year I worked on a wonderful project for Danville Children's Medical Center, creating a lot of illustrations for their leaflets, website and interiors. Sadly, the hospital only opened briefly and then closed down. But I want to share a few of my illustrations from the project anyway. The leaflet was designed by the lovely Cathy Solarana, who was great fun to work with.

Collaboration / Plain Project

This is my contribution to Kirsten Becken's project Plain, for which she invited artists to draw on her lovely photographs. You can see more images from the project on her website.

Monoblock / Small Darjeeling Notebooks

The pocket sized Live The Love In Darjeeling notebooks have arrived. The design is the same as the bigger version, but they are lovely and small, perfect for carrying around in your bag. There's a version with lined pages and one with plain pages. Now available from my Etsy and Dawanda shops.

Monoblock / American Pika

This is a new product I illustrated for the lovely Monoblock - a mini notebook with an American Pika on the front. When I researched which endangered animal I could illustrate for this project, I came across the American Pika. He seems like such a happy animal, collecting flowers in the mountains. There's a lovely video of the Pika here. A few of these mini notebooks are now available from my Etsy & Dawanda shops.

Homemakers Magazine / Barking Mad

My illustration in the September issue of the lovely Canadian Homemakers Magazine, illustrating a story by Roberta Staley.

I finally got the lovely water bottles with my illustrations from Bitch magazine. There's a pink and a green version, with the illustration wrapping around the bottle. They are available in the Bitch Media shop, here.
